The 5 Stages of Building Your Website
Stage 1: I Will Learn About Your Needs
I’ll be interacting with you closely – whether it’s via a nice long telephone chat (don’t worry about the cost - I’ll call you back!), email or internet messaging service.
I’ll listen intently as you describe your unique objectives, preferences and overall vision. I’ll also make suggestions regarding the amount and type of text you will have to prepare for your website pages.
Stage 2: I Will Design the Layout and Content
Based on your requirements and artistic vision, I’ll design the most appropriate website structure for you, adjust the colour scheme, text and layout to match your company branding, add in your sounds and images (or select great-looking, professional stock images if you do not have any yet) and drop them into your page headers and your website information structure.
If you do not already have a logo, your package may also include a simple stylized font treatment of your personal or brand name. Or you may wish me to design and create a professional logo especially for you.
Stage 3: I Will Prepare a Draft of Your Website
I’ll work on your website vision, preparing a draft mock-up containing your ideas. My typical turnaround time is 10 days to 7 weeks. Why such a wide range? Well, the speed of the development is totally dependent on the complexity of the site – and the number of images, sales page, gallery, music/audio or whatever options you may have chosen.
Stage 4: I Will Finish any Java, CSS, XML or HTML Coding, Test and Submit, Submit, Submit!
After I’ve received your feedback on the draft mock-up, I’ll work with you to finalise the design concept to your specifications. I’ll also insert your keywords and other metatags, then submit your website link to Google, Yahoo Search, Altavista, Dmoz and various other free search engines and some directories so that they know you’re up and ready to receive visitors. Then I’ll show you how to repeat this process on a regular basis to ensure they regularly note the pages of your website and slowly add them to their records.
Stage 5: Marketing your New Website
Start marketing your new website. Much of this part’s pretty much up to you! You can add your website name to your business cards, brochures and business stationery. Drop it casually into conversation. Add it onto your email messages. Include it at the end of your online chats and discussion boards. Place a link to your website on all your marketing materials. I'll send you a free ebook "Send Me More Surfers! A Guide to Online Marketing for the Small Business", as soon you sign up for a package will contain many more creative ideas and suggestions on ways to market your new website.
