Why Site Maintenance and Updates are Important
Creating your new website is generally the beginning of your journey into the online world; the remainder of your journey is all about maintaining the site.
You'll find that you'll have to put in some work on a regular basis to make your website successful in the long term. This process will start immediately following the setup of your hosting acount. No time to lean back, relax; there's more to do!
Updating the content of the text, pictures, blog, newsletter, forum or whatever you happen to have on your site will show your regular visitors as well as the Search Engines that you stand out from the crowd. Regular additions and changes to content are especially important in helping your website climb its way up the rankings of the search engines.
Google, YahooSearch, MSN and the rest of the Search Engines will not pay anywhere near as much attention to a stagnant website as they will to one that receives multiple updates per month.
One of the unique things about the websites that I create is that I provide everything you need to keep your website updated yourself, should you choose to do so.
Don't get me wrong, I love handling your site updates! But I totally understand that there will be times when you want to make that tiny change to the text on the home page at 3am on a Thursday morning when I'm not around... and when you really don't fancy paying me extra to do it when you know you can it yourself.

With your own password you can access the administration area of the online editing system of your site. This will allow you to modify the text, add new images, sounds and other downloads and so on. If you're a technical whizz, you can add in HTML snippets to pages too. You can create new pages and then structure them to match the rest of your website.
I’ll provide you with comprehensive tutorials on how to carry out these changes once your new website is complete.
Self Maintenance of your site means keeping your clients up to date on your latest products, news, prices and so on will not only be easy, it’ll also be FREE!
If, however, you prefer to shield yourself from the technical stuff and have me take care of all of these details – that’s absolutely no problem at all. I charge a flat rate of $35 per hour (with a minimum charge of $10) to work on your website, including:
- Updating, adding and removing existing pages, sounds and images
- Removing and replacing date sensitive information such as exhibitions and events you’re attending
- Adding holiday information such as Easter hours of business and Christmas sales
- Inserting monthly or weekly news articles or product reviews
- Creating and sending out a weekly or monthly Newsletter to your subscribers
Most of my clients who ask me to make regular updates to their sales pages or tweak some of the pictures in their galleries / slideshows and find that this costs them in the region of $30 - $50 per month.
